This is the logo chosen by readers to help boost business in local shops.
The logo for the Ilkley Shopping Trail was designed by seven-year-old Blake Jeffcott, from Ashlands Primary School.
A number of designs by pupils at the school were featured in the Ilkley Gazette, and readers were asked to choose one which will feature on the Ilkey Shopping Trail Guide booklet, on its balloons, banners and on all the publicity for the event, which runs from May 11 to 13.
Ilkley Business Forum’s planning group says it is thrilled to have such a vibrant logo for its shopping trail.
Jonathan Batchelor, managing director of Ramus Seafoods, who is the driving force behind the trail, said: “I always have great faith in Ilkley, from the people who support our local, independent shops every day to the retailers who really do go that extra mile to bring the best to Ilkley and, of course, I also have great faith in the children of Ilkley who are so creative and have added their energies into the Ilkley Shopping Trail event.”
He added: “Thank you to all the entrants to the logo competition; the logos were all great, but there can be only one winner this time. However, we do look forward to welcoming on the Shopping Trail all the entrants, with all their families and friends.
“This trail is a chance to revisit your favourite little shops in Ilkley and to cross the threshold of some you have not visited before; there will be a real welcome and lots of special things to look at”
Over twenty of Ilkley’s independent retailers will form the Shopping Trail and will be opening with special offers, demonstrations, tasters and discounts for everyone taking part . By collecting stamps on visiting the shops on the Trail, any shopper will also be eligible to enter the prize draw to win a £50 Gift Voucher to spend in one of the participating shops.
Ilkley Shopping Trail focuses on our local retailers and complements the Ilkley Summer Showcase which will take place in the King’s Hall, Ilkley on June 16, where the full range of Ilkley’s independent businesses can be visited in one place. Both events are organised by the Ilkley Business Forum.
