Concerned councillors want Ilkley organisations and knowledgeable professionals to join forces in response to proposals which could bring 1,300 new homes to the area.

Ilkley Parish Council’s Planning Committee wants to take the lead in setting up a forum for Ilkley residents and organisations to debate Bradford Council’s Local Development Framework (LDF) proposals, and come up with the best solution for the town.

Bradford Council will begin consultation on the draft framework on Friday, October 28, ending in late January.

As reported by the Gazette in recent weeks, the house-build targets set out in the draft LDF for the Bradford district suggest building around 3,000 new houses in Wharfedale.

The core strategy for the planning policy document, designed to replace the Unitary Development Plan (UDP), recommends building 1,300 houses in Ilkley, 400 in Addingham, 900 in Menston and 500 in Burley-in-Wharfedale, towards an overall Bradford district housing building target of 45,000 by 2028.
