A multi-award winning editorial design firm in Otley has recruited two new employees to cope with continuing growth.

Words&Pictures has appointed Lisa Spooner as senior client manager for its commercial division, while Holly Watts has taken on the role of client manager in its education team.

The pair join the company — which is three times, year-on-year winners of the Institute of Internal Communications’ Northern Agency of the Year Award — as it aims to further strengthen its position.

It is also looking to recruit more staff for its new digital and video production team, along with a new commercial business development manager and a schools communications advisor, responsible for primary school projects.

The appointments will raise the business’s workforce, which includes designers, journalists and client managers, to 40 — making Words&Pictures the biggest internal communications agency outside London.

Founder and chairman Tony Layton said: “We continue to recruit talented individuals and to invest very significantly in training and development — this enables us to deliver innovative engagement for clients, both digitally and in more traditional media.

“Such an approach has served us well in the past and, despite the challenges of the current economic climate, it’s also serving us well now as new clients keep coming on board — like Aviva, Morrisons, Starbucks and RBS have done in recent weeks.”

Ms Spooner, who joins from supermarket chain Morrisons, will be responsible for managing internal communications projects with Yorkshire Water, The College of Law, Cape plc and international law firm Baker & McKenzie.

Ms Watts, who has previously worked on digital strategy and development, will work both in schools and youth engagement projects with corporations and institutes.

Words&Pictures has won 97 industry awards over the past eight years.
