Organisers are asking festival-goers to be quick after several activities and shows for an annual event this month have sold out.

The Burley-in-Wharfedale Summer Festival begins on Saturday, August 20, but tickets have gone for some of the more popular activities.

However, organisers say there are still numerous tickets available for a raft of popular events.

“With less than a fortnight to go before the festival launch the sold-out signs are already going up on some events and activities, but there are still plenty of treats for both young and old,” one of the organisers said.

Theatre company Paperzoo will make a return to Burley with their new performance of Dennis Potter's classic play Blue Remembered Hills.

The play concerns a group of eight-year-olds growing up in the Forest of Dean during the Second World War, and the Bradford-based group will present a new performance of the tale of lost innocence. The play is suitable for children of school age and adults and tickets costs £9 and £7 for concessions.

After the play there will be a rare opportunity to hear local band The Stalks.

Burley Theatre Group will be taking a trip down memory lane with their Evening of Nostalgia on Thursday, August 25.

For youngsters between eight and 15 there are two sessions of professional basketball coaching from the Basketball Dragons while five to 12-year-olds can learn some cool street dance moves.

Those interested in more traditional pastimes can turn their hand to dry stone walling or put their best foot forward at the Morris Dancing taster session.

BBC Philharmonic's principal oboist Jennifer Galloway will join the Kelsey Quartet for an evening of chamber music while Leeds-born Opera North singer Sarah Estill returns with Ben Kerslake after performing to a sell-out audience last year.
