An Ilkley restaurant is one of only five in Yorkshire to be awarded the coveted Michelin star this year.

The Box Tree has retained its culinary status for the sixth year running, and is listed in the Michelin Guide for 2011 published this week.

The restaurant won its first star under the management of Simon and Rena Gueller in 2005.

Last year, the couple announced that Leeds-born chef Marco Pierre White would be returning as a partner to the Box Tree, where he trained in 1979.

It is the only restaurant in West Yorkshire to be awarded the star this year.

Mr Gueller said they were proud of their team and were looking forward to the year ahead.

“We are absolutely delighted and I know Marco is thrilled on our behalf,” he said. “It was a wonderful surprise to win this prestigious award in 2005 and it’s still as exciting every year.”
