A 45-year-old man charged with serious sexual offences against an underage boy appeared at Skipton Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Simon Nicholas Maufe, who has a guest house in Malham, faces 10 charges of sexual activity with a boy aged between 13 and 15.

Maufe is also accused of assaulting a boy by touching.

Eight of the alleged offences were said to have been committed in North Yorkshire, including at his business, Beck Hall, Malham. Two of the offences were allegedly committed at Thorpe Park Caravan Park, Cleethorpes, and one at Whinfell, Penrith.

All of the offences allegedly took place between January 17 2008 and March 31 last year.

As part of his bail conditions, Maufe is not allowed to go within 500 metres of Beck Hall. He had been living in Dale View, Ilkley. He is now living in Rowland Street, Skipton.

Maufe was given leave by magistrates to go to Scotland with an adult for a holiday for three days from January 20.

An application for him to be allowed to return to Beck Hall between 9am and 5pm during the week was turned down.

He was committed for trial at Bradford Crown Court and is due to appear there on Tuesday.
