PUPILS from Ashlands Primary School are hitting the right notes and singing their way to success.
The Ilkley school choir was the only one from Wharfedale to win a place in the finals of a district-wide singing competition organised by Bradford Theatres.
Their prize was the opportunity to take part in a workshop with two members of the London Community Gospel Choir, who performed at the finals held in the Alhambra Studios.
The group of eight to 11-year-olds was only formed last September but has already performed at St George’s Hall in Bradford and has been invited to sing at a headteachers’ conference in Leeds. Choir leader Keely Willox, who teaches music to key stage two pupils at the school, said: “I’m very pleased with their achievements as they have only been singing for a short while.”
