FUNDRAISING efforts for the devastated island of Haiti are still taking place as the death toll continues to rise.

Pupils and staff at Moorfield School for Girls in Ilkley chose an array of colourful, crazy hats to wear for a day and baked buns to sell, raising a total of £95.

Year six pupil and avid reader Madison Hoyles is also undertaking a sponsored readathon to raise extra funds from teachers.

Recent estimates made by Haiti’s government say around 230,000 people died in last month’s earthquake, 18,000 more than previously thought. About 300,000 have been injured.
