Addingham dog owners warned to clean up act

DOG walkers have been warned they could be in trouble with the law if they do not clear up after their pets.

A member of Ilkley's Neighbourhood Policing Team is reminding residents that allowing their dog to foul the pavements, and failing to clean up, is an offence.

PCSO Andy Smith is asking dog owners to take more care, as recent weeks have seen more dog mess on Valley Drive.

“We’re urging people to clear up after their dogs.” said PCSO Smith.“It is an offence.”

Addingham Parish Council also heard last week there was a problem with dog fouling, attributed to owners not clearing up after their pets during the recent snowy and icy conditions.

Addingham parish clerk, Michelle Holland, said she would contact Bradford Council dog wardens, after a complaint about dog fouling on in the Green Lane area. She said there was also a lot of dog mess close to Addingham Primary School on Bolton Road.

In addition to cleaning up the mess perhaps dog owners should also be a little less selfish and keep their dogs on a short lead when on or near footpaths. They no doubt think their dogs are wonderful but a lot of people do not want to have dogs running up to them, sniffing at their legs and barking round their heels.
Keep your dog to yourself.
