THIS year’s cohort of trainee teachers at All Saints’ Primary School in Ilkley continue to display their creativity, energy and passion as they explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

The teacher training programme which is designed solely by All Saints’ Primary School and delivered in partnership with local schools aims to ensure that the next generation of teachers bring about positive change in education.

As the trainees enter their final teaching placement, they have been tasked with designing and delivering a unique learning experience through a series of Super-Learner Workshops which aim to focus on opportunities beyond the National Curriculum, ensuring that learning is viewed in the broadest possible sense.

All seven trainees worked together to produce an inspiring day of learning experiences for children across school.

The theme was one of a market-stall experience where children were able to view the workshops in the school hall before deciding on which one they wanted to attend.

Many of the workshops focused on building personal skills, such as: abstract thinking, risk-taking, collaboration, compromise and decision-making.

Chris Whitehead, of All Saints’ Primary School, who was responsible for organising the event, said: “Opportunities like these are really important, not only for the children but equally for our trainee teachers.

“We all share the responsibility to make education a worthwhile endeavour; the next generation of teachers must be ready to embrace innovations in teaching but more importantly, they must be the arbiters of innovation themselves.

“Through our unique teacher training programme at All Saints’ Primary School, we envisage the future of education and work to make this a reality.”

The seven trainees are now in the final months of their training and will shortly start to apply for teaching positions.

As they do so, they will enter the profession fully equipped with the full range of skills needed to be effective teachers. The teacher training programme has a 100 per cent employment success rate with previous trainees securing jobs at All Saints’ and schools across the local area.
