RAWDON solicitor Bill Barton has completed his second head shave in support of his sister who has breast cancer.

The former president of Leeds Law Society, who runs Barton Legal, is fund-raising for charity and showing solidarity for his sister Gillian Cooney who has recently been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer.

Bill first shaved his head in 2017 to support Gillian during her first breast cancer diagnosis and to raise money for Breast Cancer Haven. He decided to do the same again, not only to raise money but to raise awareness of the challenges people with secondary breast cancer face.

To date Bill has raised more than £8,000 for the Yorkshire centre. This will enable more people affected by primary or secondary breast cancer in the region to receive free practical and emotional support.

He said: "Breast Cancer Haven is a phenomenal place which I am really grateful and happy to support. I am trying to raise awareness and funds to especially promote the secondary support Breast Cancer Haven provides. Please keep giving. Every pound you give will make a huge amount of difference and help me achieve my target of £10,000."

Breast Cancer Haven supports women through their breast cancer treatment, providing a tailored package of emotional, physical and practical support.

Yorkshire Fundraising Manager, Tom Robertshaw, said: "We are so thankful for Bill’s ongoing support and for helping us raise the profile of Breast Cancer Haven here in Yorkshire. We want anyone affected by breast cancer to know we are here to help them, and can offer practical, emotional and physical support either from our centre in Leeds or from one of our other centres across the country."
