A STAGGERING £27,000 has been raised by cycling young farmers.

Pembrokeshire YFC's Big Adventure cycling team, who cycled four days and more than 250 miles, from Haverfordwest to Blackpool for the NFYFC Annual Convention has raised a final total of £27,000.

Led by county chairman Non Thorne, who only thought five or six cyclists would join her, not 26, recently handed over the cash to three worthwhile charities.

Prostate Cymru received £15,000, Wales Air Ambulance £10,000, and £2,000 to Pembrokeshire YFC.

Having handed out the cheques at the recent Pembrokeshire YFC AGM, Non said: "I wanted to do something that brought people together, to do something they wouldn't normally do and raise money for charity. I had no idea however that we would raise so much, which will help so many locally.

"There are too many people to thank, including the support crew, the sponsors and those who donated. However I would like to thank the cyclists, who made it a once in a lifetime adventure."
