A MAJOR scheme on the M62 aimed at reducing congestion and improving safety for drivers will enter its second phase on Monday.
Work will begin at junction 28 for Tingley on September 24 to widen the westbound exit slip road to four lanes and the eastbound slip road to three lanes, improving access off the motorway.
The work to improve junction 27 at Gildersome is continuing well – the westbound slip roads are now back fully open and work to add a third lane to both slip roads is underway.
Highways England project manager Esref Ulas said: “We are pleased to be moving to the next stage of this important work to improve these busy junctions on the M62.
“This is a vital route and we are working hard to minimise disruption but drivers should allow extra time for their journeys.”
There will be some road closures overnight between 8pm until 6am and these will be signed in advance.
Work is expected to finish in spring 2019.
