THREE residents of Ben Rhydding have cycled 360 miles in five days, riding from Rīga in Latvia to Tallinn in Estonia to raise more than £8,000 for the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford.

Adrian Long, Stefan Macina and Claire Macina were part of a group of 15 cyclists from across the UK who took part in the Marie Curie Bike the Baltic Charity ride.

Adrian said: “The ride started in Riga, Latvia and we cycled through Latvia until we arrived at Valka on the Latvia/Estonia border at the end of day two.

“We then crossed into Estonia and cycled for a further three days until we arrived at the capital of Estonia, Thallinn at the end of day five. We completed the ride outside the Russian Orthodox Church in the Old Town in Thallin.

“The total distance cycled was 360 miles and temperatures approached 30C at times. The shortest day of cycling was 65 miles and the longest 88 miles. Stefan, Claire and myself have raised over £8,000 for the Marie Curie Bradford hospice and the group as a whole, have raised nearly £50,000 for Marie Curie.

“Our next fundraiser for Marie Curie is a Race Night on Saturday, October 6 which will be held at the Wheatley Arms in Ben Rhydding, 7.30 pm start.”

The Bradford hospice needs £8,940 per day to keep caring for patients.
