ROAD and fell races at Burnsall Feast Sports and Classic Fell Race on Saturday, August 25 will be started by the leader of Craven District Council, Cllr Richard Foster.

Cllr Foster, who lives in Hebden, comes from a farming family and his father, Bill, was a fell runner of note, having had many tussles with the likes of Bill Teasdale, notably in the Kilnsey Crag Race, a race which starts almost on the doorstep of the family farm.

The annual event features a ten mile road race, junior fell races and a senior fell race, with prizes for men, women, teams and veterans.

Before the races themselves, there will be plenty of fun for all the family, including side shows, raffles, a tombola and display of vintage cars.

There will also be all the fun of the traditional Punch and Judy, coconut shies and much more.

Programmes will be available on the day, containing all the results from the previous year. Proceeds will go to good causes in the area.

The road race will start at 2pm and the classic fell race at 4.30pm.
