A FUNDRAISING concert entitled Past and Present will be held at Bolton Priory next month.

The event takes place from 7pm on Friday, September 21 and will feature singers from Kings College Cambridge - Ensemble Pro Victoria, a versatile, mixed early music group.

The first half of the concert, ‘Past’, will include music by William Byrd and Thomas Tallis.

After the interval, during which wine, soft drinks and Yorkshire cheese will be served, the second, ‘Present’ half will feature pieces by Elgar and Grieg that are intended to evoke the natural beauty of Wharfedale.

The concert is being sponsored by Norman and Sandra Stubbs and their family, with all proceeds going towards the Priory Heating Fund.

A spokeswoman said: “Bolton Priory is one of the finest medieval churches in the north of England and will provide a magnificent setting for a performance by Ensemble Pro Victoria.

“An opportunity to experience this unique combination, the evening promises to be a delight for music lovers.”

Tickets cost £15, which includes the interval refreshments, and can be purchased online at www.boltonpriory.org.uk/tickets .

They are also available from the Church Office by calling (01756) 710238 or from Sandra Stubbs on 07831 217066.
