IT’S summer time... and Pinsuti, the Ilkley and Skipton Chamber Choir, are singing an amazing range of songs from the shows, barbershop, madrigals and eight part sacred anthems at St Peter’s Hall, Addingham, LS29 0QS at 7.30pm, on Saturday July 7th.

This is a new venue for the choir which is planning a packed evening of music which it hopse will appeal to a wide variety of musical tastes, including favourites such as “Blue Moon”, “Tea for Two” and “Begin the Beguine”, along with seasonal favourite “Summer time”.

A choir spokesperson said: “We divide into two choirs for Harris’ motets “Bring us, O Lord God” and “Faire is the Heaven”, modern settings of texts by Donne and Spenser, respectively.

“We split further to showcase the men singing barbershop arrangements “Coney Island Baby” and “Cabaret”, and the women singing a modern arrangement of Schubert’s wonderful “Ave Maria”.

“The Victorian era is represented by two songs by Sullivan (without Gilbert): “Echoes” and the better known “The long day closes”. Travelling further back in time we will be singing a selection of our favourite madrigals, including “See what a maze of error” by Kirbye and the “The silver swan” by Gibbons.

“Alongside the music, tea, coffee, cakes and strawberries will be available (by donation) to keep you refreshed and replete.

“It is an exciting and varied selection of music, which we hope will appeal to a wide variety of musical tastes and provide a very enjoyable evening.

“Come and join us. Tickets, which cost £8, are available from choir members or on the door, and the concert starts at 7.30pm.”
