A TOWN Councillor is looking forward to a busy Otley Walking Festival.

Councillor Mick Bradley (Green, Danefield) will be leading two events at this year's festival, which starts on Saturday, June 23 and runs for nine days.

First, at 7.30pm on Thursday, June 28, he will give an illustrated talk - featuring photographs of some of the 284 mountains that were tackled - on the Trials and Tribulations of Munro Bagging in Scotland.

Then on Saturday, June 30 Cllr Bradley will lead an easy rated, five and a half mile circular Dales Dog Walk on either side of the River Wharfe, which starts from Burnsall Bridge at 1.30pm.

The walk is being held in remembrance of local environmentalist and author Rob Godfrey who died last year, aged 63.

The route is taken from Mr Godfrey's book Yorkshire Dales- a dog walker’s guide, which is available from Countryside Books.
