TWO leading lights of the British folk scene will join forces at a show in Otley next month.

Emily Portman and Rob Harbron will take the stage at Otley Courthouse at 8pm on Sunday, July 1.

The pair have both received multiple accolades for their years of work in a variety of collaborations.

Emily, who sings and plays banjo, was nominated for the Folk Singer of the Year – BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2016 while her tune, Hatchling, won the Best Original Song category in 2013.

She is best known as a songwriter and for her work in traditional song band The Furrow Collective.

Rob, a skilled multi-instrumentalist who plays English concertina, guitar, and fiddle and also sings, is known for his work with Leveret, Fay Hield and the Hurricane Party, Jon Boden and many more.

Together, Rob and Emily explore the traditional music in which they are both steeped, mining the archives for hidden gems while offering their own original contributions.

A Courthouse spokeswoman said the Otley audience can expect 'an unforgettable live experience'.

Tickets for the show cost £13 and can be booked at www.otleycourthouse.org.uk or by calling (01943) 467466.
