THE Friends of Ilkley Lido have carried out a survey of its members to find out what they think about the proposed introduction of car parking charges at the Lido by Bradford Council.

Over 190 responses were received and key findings included: 90 per cent visited the lido by car; 40 per cent would not visit the lido if there were no concession against their entry fee; if parking charges were refunded against entry the impact would be limited significantly.

Davy Simpson, chairman of the Friends of Ilkley Lido said: "Visitors have declared en masse they would work around this by parking on surrounding streets and site.

"The Friends of Ilkley Lido strongly object to these proposals and advise passionately for the Council to outline and assess any proposals against the clear and transparent objectives, as our findings indicate visitor numbers to, and possibly sustainability of, the Lido would be impacted."
