FOOD lovers are being urged to get baking for a 'Cake Off' at Harewood.

The competition is part of the Great British Food Festival which will take place from May 26 to May 28.

It will give amateur bakers the chance to go head to head to win a prize from Kenwood.

Howard Middleton, formerly of the Great British Bake Off, will help judge on one of the days.

He said: "I love demoing at the shows and the highlight of the weekend is judging the public cake off. The effort people put into their cakes is simply staggering and I learn from these showstoppers every time. So get baking and bring a cake to enter. I can't wait to try them and you might even win a prize."

The Chef Demo stage once again welcomes names from the Great British Bake Off, including Luis Troyano, Sandy Docherty and Howard Middleton. Alongside the celebrity chefs, some of the best regional talent will be showcasing their skills.

Dan Maycock, Festival Director, said: "We’re thrilled to announce the great chefs at this year’s event. The 'Cake Off' competition is great fun, it’s fantastic to see the public entries and what they can do, and all bakes get free entry to the event with their cake."

The event also features artisan producers with the best in seasonal, and speciality food and drink, including pulled pork, prime steak and local sausages.

Those with less traditional tastes can sample an ostrich burger or enjoy tasty Thai and Caribbean flavours. Visit www.greatbritishfoodfestival.com for tickets.
