CHILDREN at Westville House have been enjoying taking part in this year's Westville Bake-Off competition.

Fourteen children produced amazing cakes for the semi finals before being whittled down to four for the final.

Jenny Hallatt, from Betty’s in Ilkley, joined Julian Bligh, head chef at the school, to watch the bakers at work and to sample the final cakes.

Lois Skelton from Year 6 was the eventual worthy winner with her scrumptious Sticky Toffee Cake. Runners up were Phoebe Dickinson with her sparkly Unicorn cake, Jake Poulson who created a wonderful replica of Westville House and Ingrid Wilkinson who produced a yummy chocolate hedgehog.

Ms Hallatt was so impressed with all the entrants but commented particularly on the winning entry as being “something that Betty’s would be proud to serve”. Chef Julian invited Lois to bake her cake for the whole school as a special treat for Fridays dessert. Everyone loved it.
