TWO of the six artists with artwork to be featured on the Big Screen in Centenary Square, Bradford, throughout May and June, are from Ilkley.

In association with Bradford UNESCO City of Film, Colin Neville, of Silsden, curator of the Not Just Hockney website, organises a bi-monthly themed presentation of local artists' work on the Big Screen. The presentations are at 12.30pm daily, and the theme for May and June is Abstract and Expressionist Art, and the two Ilkley artists are: Kerry Stoker and Ian Middleton.

Each artist featured on the Big Screen can choose to show three of their artwork images, plus a brief biographical profile.

The Burley-in-Wharfedale based artist, Ian Middleton, has developed a style of semi-abstract painting, combining shapes and connective lines, to create recognisable forms. Images are often merged and woven to create a theme or narrative within the painting. Ian’s work has been exhibited regionally, including at the Leeds 17th Art Exhibition, and has also been selected in the past for auction by The Royal Academy, with proceeds going to charity.

Kerry Stoker is a painter who works from her studio in Ilkley. She paints mainly with acrylic, but also in oil, watercolour and oil pastel. Her work regularly features at both the Ilkley and Saltaire Art Trails as well as in shows of the Yorkshire Watercolour Society, Society of British Artists, Society of Women Artists, and at ‘Art for Youth’ exhibitions in London, Sheffield and North Yorkshire.

The other four artists to be featured on the Big Screen are Terry Greene, Judy Sale, and Ben Snowden from the Keighley area, and Peter Robson from Bradford.

The Not Just Hockney website of local artists at www.notjusthockney.info is a non-commercial website, launched in 2015, which now features around 350 professional local artists, past and present, who were born or lived for a significant period of time in the Bradford district, including Ilkley. The website currently attracts around 1500 visitors a month and is free to all users.
