SINGER and multi-instrumentalist Jon Boden will be performing with his new band The Remnant Kings in Saltaire.

Jon Boden is best known as the lead singer of the progressive folk juggernaut Bellowhead, and is a respected interpreter and champion of traditional song.

After 12 years, 250,000 album sales, seven singles playlisted on Radio 2 and hundreds of sold out venues, Bellowhead split in May 2016.

Jon went on to record solo album Afterglow to show that his repertoire extended far beyond the boundaries of the folk traditional genre.

The Observer said the album recalled Gabriel-era Genesis with a dash of Bush and Bowie, while Louder Than War said the polished contemporary approach invited comparisons with rock and pop trailblazers.

At the gig, Jon will perform both solo and with the new 11-piece big band, whose members include fellow Bellowheaders Sam Sweeney and Paul Sartin, along with Leveret’s Rob Harbron and Ben Nicholls, and Richard Warren from Kings of The South Seas.

Afterglow will be played in its entirety, accentuated by ambitious lighting and an incredible full band sound.

As a multi-BBC Folk Award winning artist, Jon Boden has become woven into the fabric of the English folk scene.

Jon and the Remnant Kings can be seen at Victoria Hall, Saltaire, on Friday, April, 27. Call 01274 588614 to book tickets.
