THE STAR of hit film I, Daniel Blake will give a comic account of his experiences in Otley next week.

Dave Johns was catapulted to fame after being cast in the title role of the acclaimed Ken Loach movie.

But what happened to the 60 year old comedian - from Byker, Newcastle - after such a life-changing experience?

That is the subject of his new standup show, I Fillum Star, which he is bringing to Otley Courthouse on Friday, March 30.

Jones will discuss his 'rollercoaster ride of red carpet surrealism' when he takes the stage at 8pm.

He will also describe some of the highlights so far - which have included attending the Cannes film festival and chatting to director Woody Allen in a lift.

I, Daniel Blake won the coveted Palm D’Or at Cannes along with 17 other major film awards, with Jones being named Best Actor at the British Independent Film Awards and Empire awards.

And his big screen adventures are continuing - he plays Trevor ‘Bulldog’ Bolton in a new comedy Walk Like A Panther, a feel-good tale about wrestlers who have to don their costumes for one last time.

Tickets for his Otley performance cost £14 and can be booked by visiting www.otleycourthouse.org.uk, calling (01943) 467466 or popping into the Courthouse, on Courthouse Street.
