ILKLEY ward councillors are supporting a campaign by residents living in rural areas of the town who are furious about changes to their bin collections.
Bradford Council has told affected residents they will no longer collect their refuse by bags using small vans. Instead residents must take their rubbish to a collection point.
Cllr Martin Smith (Con, Ilkley) said: "This issue is across the rural area of Bradford district and was enacted without consultation.
"Residents who had this difficult to collect collection are up in arms and it is a risk to their personal safety and is against the provisions of the environmental protection act sec 45 which says Council are to collect remote sites and be reasonable in its actions.
"To this end there is a campaign to raise this with the Local Government Ombudsman at an early date and your district councillors Mike Gibbons and Martin Smith will be supporting this action."
