THE Ilkley Playhouse Vintage Fair returns for a seventh time on Easter Saturday, March 31.

The venue on Weston Road will once again play host to a range of stalls, selling everything from vintage women’s and men’s fashion to retro toys, homeware and classic furniture.

The fair’s organiser, Jill Coulson of Burley-in-Wharfedale-based business Alfie Robot Retro, promises a mix of popular sellers from previous fairs and new stalls offering a wider range of retro goodies than ever before.

“We’re always looking for new sellers to add to the fair in order to offer customers even more choice, and we have some really exciting new faces for the Easter fair,” she said.

One of those new businesses is Statement Furniture, who specialise in original pieces from the 1960s, including iconic design names such as G Plan, Ercol, Greaves & Thomas and Nathan. They also provide salvage furniture, which they describe as “an ever-changing collection of old school vintage, European finds and original commissions from the 1960s”.

“We’re really excited about Statement Furniture booking a stall,” said Jill, “a number of customers have expressed a wish in the past to see more furniture at the Playhouse fair, and we’re certain they’re going to love what they have to offer.”

Other new faces this time around include Paper Poodle, who deal in vintage and handmade children’s clothing and accessories from 1950s to the 1980s for both boys and girls, newborn to teen. In addition, the Headingley-based vintage-focused branch of the Sue Ryder charity shop will run a stall.

Yvonne Robinson of Vintage Rummage Rooms, who regularly sells jewellery at the Ilkley Playhouse Vintage Fair, thinks the variety of retailers is one of the reasons behind its success. “There’s something for everything at the Ilkley fair; young, old, men, women,” she said.

“The atmosphere is so friendly too. Everyone has a smile on their face and you find yourself chatting to so many interesting people during the day.”

There will be 20 stalls in total, spread throughout the whole footprint of the building, from the box office to the Wildman Theatre, as well as a vintage tearoom, offering hot drinks and a selection of cakes and treats to help you refuel after a hard morning’s shopping.

There are two vintage fairs at the Playhouse each year, one on Easter Saturday and the other towards the end of October. This year’s autumn event is scheduled for Saturday, October 27.

The next Ilkley Playhouse Vintage Fair runs from 10am till 4pm on Saturday, March 31. Entrance costs £1 and under 16s are free.
