WE at Ilkley Cinema often wonder whether we will ever see the peeking sunshine of spring and its warmth dancing upon The Moors.

But until that point, we invite you to come in from the cold, rain and snow, to watch a pair of Oscar winners from March 16th -22nd, and a truly uplifting story of finding a new lease on life.

Imelda Staunton triumphs alongside an all-star British cast in romantic drama Finding Your Feet, as middle class snob Sandra on the eve of her retirement, who discovers that her husband has been cheating on her with her best friend. Dealt the most bitter hand of betrayal, she seeks refuge with Bif (Celia Imrie), her free spirited, serial dating older sister who lives on a council estate.

As the estranged sisters bond again, Bif encourages Sandra to live life to the fullest, and drags her along to her community dance class. Stepping outside her comfort zone, Sandra begins to find herself again as she makes a whole host of new friends, and with romance on the cards, may allow herself to open her heart once again.

We couldn’t possibly let this year pass by without showing The Best Picture Oscar Winner, The Shape of Water. Guillermo del Toro’s exquisitely beautiful science-fiction fairy tale tells the story of Elisa, a mute, isolated woman working as a cleaner at a secret government laboratory in 1960s Baltimore. Her life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda discover a secret classified experiment: a mysterious amphibious creature that is being held in captivity. As Elisa develops an unusual bond with the creature, she learns its sinister fate, and does everything in her power to save her new friend.

Finally, we continue to show Gary Oldman’s hugely popular Oscar-winning historical drama Darkest Hour, so catch this amazing film while you still can.
