A BIT of extra comfort has been provided for parents staying with their children at Airedale Hospital.

The Friends of Airedale have funded four new beds on the children's unit, for use by parents.

And the beds can be converted into chairs during the day.

Katrina Embleton, play specialist on the children's unit, said: "Having a parent stay with a child whilst they are in hospital is proven to be a really positive factor in aiding that child's recovery – and their practical help is often essential.

"It's extremely important that the parents can get the sleep they need and the feedback we have had is that the new beds are very comfortable.

"We are grateful to the Friends for their very generous donation."

Gurmit Jauhal, voluntary services manager at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said the Friends were delighted to support the unit.

"We hope the donation will make a big difference," he added.

"This is one of the reasons our volunteers find it so worthwhile to give their time, to do these nice things for our patients and their families."
