A GUARD has been assaulted on a train at Ben Rhydding station.

The guard on the 7.38pm train from Ilkley to Leeds on Monday, February 5, challenged a man and a woman who did not have tickets. The man became verbally abusive and, as they left the train, he punched the guard leaving him with a serious cut to his eyebrow, which required stitches.

The pair left the train at Ben Rhydding station and continued to shout obscenities and bang on the train as they left.

Police officers would like to speak to a number of witnesses who may have seen the incident, including a woman who offered to give first aid to the victim.

The offenders were both white teenagers.
