A FREE advice session is being held in Guiseley this weekend for people who want to cut their fuel bills.

Guiseley AFC's Community Foundation has teamed up with its club sponsor United Gas and Power to stage the drop in event from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, February 17. It will take place at the UGP Offices - formerly the Regent Hotel - on Otley Road.

The session is aimed at helping people who find it difficult to switch supplier or are unsure if this is something that they need to do.

Organisers say the latest figures show that around 11 per cent of households nationally are in fuel poverty and they believe the event is a real opportunity to make a difference to peoples lives.

United Gas and Power is a Guiseley-based company which sells gas and electricity exclusively to the commercial sector. Because of this they believe they are in a good position to offer impartial advice to the general public.

Anyone wanting advice should simply turn up on the day with a recent utility bill and UGP staff will advise them. Anyone who wants to book an appointment should email their preferred times to kinnon.north@gafccommunity.co.uk.

Phil Rogerson, Chairman of the Guiseley Community Foundation, said: "We welcome the opportunity to work with United Gas and Power as we look to help people reduce their energy bills. In particular I would like to thank their staff for giving up their Saturday morning to help and I'm sure the event will be a great success."

Steve Taylor, Community Development Manager added “This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a local firm that can offer truly impartial advice and help people save money and stay warm this winter”

Michael Coverdale of UGP commented “We are pleased to be able to support this programme as part of our commitment to Guiseley Community Foundation, Guiseley AFC and the wider community”
