BETHAN Morley provided the thrills for Ilkley Harriers in the Yorkshire Cross Country Championships at Lightwater Valley.

The talented young runner won the under-17 girls race with another strong performance.

She completed the strength-sapping course in 16min 06sec and finished eight seconds ahead of her closest rival.

The under-17 age group is one where Ilkley have a lot of talent.

Their boys team struck gold thanks to three impressive individual performances.

Euan Brennan led the way by taking the individual silver medal with a time of 20:46.

He was well supported by Dominic Coy 6th, and Cameron Reilly 7th.

Max Ashelford was Ilkley's best finisher in the under-13 boys event in 30th place,while George Morley was 39th.

In the under-13 girls, Phoebe Worrall was 38th, Amy Brown Carrera 51st, Hattie Bishop 53, Alice Coy 74th and Neve Tennant 83rd.

Bernadette Raven was Ilkley's top under-15 girl in 15th place with Nina Pearce coming 21st. Poppy Anderson 38th, Pippa Threlfall 39th, Charlotte Elston 52nd, Georgia Weston 61st and Emily Kenneth 67th, completed the Ilkley contingent.

Nathan Coy was Ilkley's only runner in the under-15 boys and came 31st.

Jack Wood was Ilkley's highest-placed senior man in 22nd place,

The weather was fine and bright for the latest Peco Cross Country meeting,

Steven Gott was the first male Ilkley Harrier to finish in 34th position whilst Jane McCarthy had a good run to finish fifth Lady and 1st V40 runner.

There was also a scattering of Ilkley Harriers taking part in the 5k Parkruns around the country.

The fastest time this week came from Alex Hirst, whilst Neil Pomfret improved on his parkrun time for the third consecutive week.

Geoff Howard, Vet 70 was highly placed at Fountains Abbey.

Skipton: 33 Neil Pomfret 23:01, 40 Caroline Howe 23:33, 59 Jane Bryant 25:25.
