THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for Ilkley Grammar School with a series of events organised by the PTA.

Students at the school presented a cheque for £8,000 to headteacher Helen Williams after a busy year of fundraising.

Becky Taylor from Ilkley Grammar School's Parent Teacher Association said: "The IGS PTA have had a very busy year and were delighted to be able to hand over a giant cheque for £8,000 to the school earlier this term. Apart from the famous PTA car boot sales down on the school field, other PTA events this year have included a quiz night, roller skating in the sports hall and an Auction of Promises. The money raised will benefit all students at a time when funding for all schools is very tight."
