ILKLEY Youth and Community Association (IYCA) has been granted National Lottery funding to enable it to provide a Friday night youth club starting in January 2018.
Chairman of IYCA, Cllr Martin Smith said the application was made following a successful summer activity programme which was held this year and after which the need for a Friday night session was discussed with local youngsters.
"To this end we bid to the National Lottery fund for finance for a year's Friday night youth club to add to the Monday night inclusion and Wednesday club nights," said Cllr Smith. "Activities at this time are being discussed and by the start in mid-January 2018 a programme of events will be released.
"IYCA have agreed a contract with Bradford Council Youth Service to run the programme and it is hoped that we may be able to obtain support funding for continuing years."
After a meeting this week with council officers, Cllr Smith added: "At present research is being carried out on the streets by the youth service with the youth of the town and with the Grammar School to establish in the main what the youth would like the format of the Friday session to be."
