ILKLEY Harriers are organising a fundraising Santa run on Ilkley Moor on the morning of Saturday, November 25 from 11am.

Organiser Shirley Wood said: "We hope lots of local people will want to join us. It is very much a family social event to raise money for the proposed Compact Athletics Training Facility which we hope to build in the spring and will provide much needed athletics facilities in Ilkley. Included in the entry fee of £10 are Santa suits/hats and buns and mince pies at White Wells afterwards.

"Courses have been kept short to allow everyone (particularly children, minimum age 6 years) to take part and help towards the fundraising effort. There are no individual or team prizes but there will be a number of random spot prizes given out at the finish.

"The 3km race and the one mile fun run both start on Wells Road, take in the lower tarn and finish at White Wells. All event details and entry forms can be found on www.junior.ilkleyharriers.org.uk

"There is a 200 entry limit and although entries will be taken on the day if there is space there is no guarantee of a Santa suit so please enter in advance.

"All proceeds from the fundraising event will go towards the proposed Compact Athletics Training Facility (CATF) which is an innovative design around two sides of Ilkley Town’s new 3G football pitch. It will provide an all weather training facility for running (sprinting and hurdling), jumping (long and triple) and throwing (shot, javelin and discus).

"If you are reading this article and are in a position to sponsor elements of the CATF (discus cage, jumps pit or lanes of the 100m straight) or donate to the project please contact Shirley Wood Shirley@ilkleyharriers.org.uk".
