WESTVILLE House School in Middleton, Ilkley, is celebrating the opening of a brand new state-of-the art IT suite.

The suite has been part of a £1m development programme which the school is close to completing. Along with new pre-school and Early Years classrooms the school has recently benefitted from a new library, media suite and entrance hub which is popular with the whole school.

The new IT Suite covers in excess of 800sq ft and is light, airy and reflects the innovations in this area of the curriculum. The large classroom houses individual laptops for every child along with high tech software and interactive screens.

Mr Chris Adamthwaite, deputy head teacher said: “Information Technology is a fast moving part of the curriculum. The new facilities are a cutting edge development to the school and will allow us to take advantage of all changes in IT. Our teaching will be an essential part of preparing all our pupils to be able to use many areas of technology and communication in a safe and responsible way.”

The new IT suite can be viewed during the school's open day on Saturday, November 11. Superhero Saturday, as the day is known, will see academic superhero achievements through all subjects celebrated. Families are encouraged to visit the school, meet the staff and see the developments first-hand.
