The annual Ilkley Art Show was a great success this year.
The demonstrations and workshops proved hugely popular, with the Ilkley Arts and Cornmill venues allowing a larger range of workshops to be offered. There was also a broad selection of art materials available from suppliers such as Seymour Wallace, Winsor and Newton and Caran d’Ache.
The ‘Reflections’ painting competition, sponsored by The Artist and Leisure Painter magazines, was won by Warren Anstiss. His prize was a year's subscription to either magazine.
In the exhibition the Best Newcomer was won by Amanda Watson for her atmospheric oils of the Lake District, Best Picture was won by Mike Smith who does reduction lino prints, and the late Brian Irving was named Best Artist for his Dales scene watercolours. All three artists are now showing in the Christmas Exhibition in the Gallery At The Art Shop, Hawksworth Street Ilkley, on until the end of December.
