WHARFE valley Macmillan fundraisers had a busy time in the lead up to The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Throughout September they collected every weekend at M& S and then were out and about in Ilkley delivering coffees and teas to people in businesses in the town centre who couldn’t get to a coffee morning.

Four teams took to the streets in the pouring rain and delivered 158 teas and coffees to 52 participating businesses including some customers who were glad to pause in their shopping to support Macmillan. They also received some ad hoc donations on the street and from those sitting in their cars while waiting for traffic to move. Along at Virtual College another 130 drinks were served to staff by other members of the committee. Together with a small coffee morning at Abbeyfield, Menston, and the generosity of local people, more than £600 was raised from coffee and tea sales.

Christine Martinez, one of the chief organisers, said it the best year yet for delivering coffee morning drinks and she thanked everyone who took part to support The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Macmillan.
