A PLAY documenting the experiences of three refugees will be performed in Otley next month.

The performance of The Refugee Monologues at Otley Courthouse on Monday, October 16 has been organised by community group Otley Welcomes*.

The script features three real-life stories based on the testimonies of refugees who had to flee terror at home to find eventual asylum in the UK.

The play will be performed by Otley's Town Poet Matthew Hedley Stoppard, local resident and actress Astrid Copeland, and spoken word poet and Edinburgh Fringe sensation Matt Abbott.

The performance starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £5, with profits being shared between Amnesty International and Otley Welcomes, which is hosting the event in partnership with the ice&fire theatre company.

Tickets can be bought on the door or in advance at ticketsource.co.uk/event/EMHKEH .

*Otley Welcomes, which meets monthly, is dedicated to making everyone feel safe and welcome in the town.
