GREEN FINGERED volunteers braved the rain in Rawdon to install three large wooden planters on the verge at the side of the A65.

The planters were made by a volunteer, from funds raised by the Rawdon in Bloom group, to add more colour to the local environment. A further planter will be put in place and all four will be planted with seasonal annuals. They will be filled up with soil within the next two weeks with planting to follow.

Group vice-chairman Phil Gomersall said: "If there is anyone out there who likes gardening and cares about the environment please come and join us, you will be more than welcome. We will be on this site, opposite the Conservative Club, Rawdon on the A65, at 9am on Saturday, September 23.
