WHARFEDALE students are celebrating a string of top grades after collecting their A-level results at The Grammar School at Leeds.

Among the star performers is Tilly Woodward from Menston, who has already secured a place through audition at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, and has now achieved three A-levels with two A*s and an A.

Three of Tilly’s fellow students are celebrating three straight A*s. Gemma Timmons from Ilkley achieved the top grades in French, history and maths to secure her place to read PPE at Magdalen College, Oxford. Hannah Gorman from Bramhope achieved A*s in biology, chemistry and geography, and will study dentistry at Newcastle University. Felicity Greenfield also from Bramhope earned A*s in biology, chemistry and history and goes on to study medicine at Bristol University.

Emily Boggs from Weston has a clean sweep of A grades in four subjects, biology, chemistry, maths and history. Jireh Chiu from Yeadon and Tess Fawkes from Farnley achieved two A*s and an A.

Amy Dawson-Kavanagh from Rawdon passed A-levels in four subjects including one A* and two A grades. Other high achievers with an A* and two As are Joseph Harrison from Leathley and Imogen Bates from Farnley.

A third of students at The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) achieved all their A-levels at A*or A grades.

Sixty students celebrated as they picked up the coveted grades with 16 scooping three or more straight A*s. Of the 16 who swept the board with the top grade, five students achieved four A*s and a further 11 achieved three A*s.

Principal Sue Woodroofe said: "This is the first cohort of students to take the more rigorous reformed A-levels and I’m delighted that a third of our students achieved straight A*/A grades and three-quarters of grades were A*-B.

"This is an excellent set of results and, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our students and staff, this impressive group of young people are well placed to enjoy continued success at university and beyond."
