A NERVE wracking wait for results after two years of study was over as students gather at the Aireville Campus of Craven College to collect their results today.

Sociology was the best performing A level and Creative Writing the best performing AS Level. For mature students over 19 who had returned to study the pass rate was 100 per cent in nine out of ten subjects.

Out of the 18 A level subject areas Art & Design, Business, Computer Science, Creative Writing, English Language, English Literature, Geology, Media Studies, Photography, Psychology and Sociology all achieved a 100 per cent pass rate. Among the Craven College students who were happy after opening their A Level results envelopes were Lauren Haught, of Addingham got back into study with AS Levels in Chemistry A, Biology B and Maths C.

Lauren said: “I had started A Levels in school but left early to work in retail for a couple of years. I decided to go back to study and found I could do A Levels at Craven College. It’s been a good decision for me - I have enjoyed being here, studying in a professional setting, being independent. After A levels I want to go to York University to do a degree in Bio Chemistry.”

Robert Bellfield, Principal said: “Every year I am so proud of how hard our students work. It is particularly pleasing to see the students achieve the A Level and BTEC grades they need for the next stage in their lives whether a university course or Apprenticeship. I would also like to pay tribute to the teaching staff who have supported and inspired these young adults.”

A Levels are just a part of the portfolio of Level 3 courses offered by Craven College. In addition to the A level students, Craven College has seen hundreds of Level 3 BTEC students and apprentices achieving across a wide range of subject and employment areas.

Craven College also offers a range of Degree Level study programmes. Places are available on courses for September 2017. The full range of courses and on line application forms can be found at www.craven-college.ac.uk or through clearing.
