A NEW set of apprentice healthcare support workers has started at Airedale Hospital.
Following an intensive induction, the group will serve in a variety of departments across the NHS foundation trust, from A&E to the stroke ward.
They will work alongside, and under the supervision of, experienced clinical staff as part of the 12-month apprenticeship programme.
The recruits will study for a diploma in health and social care, with classroom-based sessions being delivered by Keighley College.
Permanent jobs will be guaranteed on completion of the scheme.
One of the apprentices, James Fielden, said: “I applied because I want to be a paramedic.
“I’m hoping to work my way up and eventually do my paramedic training.”
The next cohort of healthcare apprentices will be taken on in the autumn.
