THE ORGANISERS of Weeton Show are promising to end July in fine traditional style.

This year's event takes place on Sunday, July 30 and will feature everything from showjumping and carriage driving and birds of prey demonstration to live music and Terrier racing.

Thousands of people are expected to enjoy those and other attractions including wood-turning and spinning displays, sheep, small animal and heavy horse classes and a produce marquee packed with fruit and vegetables, cakes and more.

Vice Chairman Paula Ware said: "Once again Weeton Show will take place on the last Sunday in July and offers people the chance to enjoy a traditional country show.

"With a fabulous mix of trade stands, an exhibition of traditional crafts, a silver band and lots of old tractors and machinery on display there’s something for everyone.

"Many regular visitors enjoy the chance to meet friends in the beer tent and buffet, whilst for others entering the family mutt in the ‘waggiest tail’ class is the highlight of the show.

"With horse showing classes and show jumping throughout the day, and the main ring offering entertainment including Jema and her four Performing Mini Shetlands, Terrier racing and the usual chaos of the Famous Weeton Dog race, the crowds lining the ring will have lots to see and enjoy."

The show committee made a donation of £5,000 to St Michael's Hospice following last year's event, and this time the show will be supporting Horticap.

Paula added: "Thanks to the generosity of the landowners who let the show use their fields, and the hard work of an army of volunteers, we are going from strength to strength!

"Make sure you join us on Sunday, July 30."
