A GROUP of Skipton based guides has been given a donation of £638 from Skipton Craven Rotary Club.

The 7th Skipton Guides Unit approached the club for help towards funding its activities, and the club, which has supporting youth as part of its ethos, was happy to help.

Rotarian, George Garland, immediate past president, was impressed with the energy and spirit of the relatively new unit, and spent some time with the group, seeing how the money had been spent.

Guide leader Chris Page said: "The donation has provided some much needed camping equipment for which we are most grateful including a lovely tent, gas rings and water boiler.”

Guide Anna Sapsford said she had used the water boiler on the last guide camp at Niffany Farm, Skipton, to make some hot chocolate drinks for fellow guiders.
