ALL the fun of the seaside can be enjoyed this summer – without leaving Keighley!

An indoor beach, which proved a massive hit last year, is returning to the town.

The attraction, in the Airedale Shopping Centre, will head-up a programme of seasonal activities for townspeople and visitors.

A beach launch event takes place on Saturday, July 29.

There will be free entertainment – with jive dancing performances and lessons – arts and crafts, face painting and balloon modelling.

The beach will then be open every day, from 10am to 4pm, until Sunday, September 3.

It will feature sand, retro deckchairs and buckets and spades.

Behind the initiative is Keighley Business Improvement District (BID), which is funded by businesses to promote the town centre to visitors.

Its manager, Paul Howard, said: "The beach was brilliantly supported last year and we're thrilled it's returning as the main attraction for a busy summer in Keighley.

"Visitors to the launch day can also make the most of our Keighley independents competition, and be in with a chance of winning £500 in vouchers.

"The competition closes at the end of this month and we have already received a flood of entries."

Shoppers collecting three stamps from participating businesses have the chance of scooping the vouchers, to spend in Keighley.

People should look out for 'enter here' posters.
