A FUNDRAISING runner from Otley will be back in action this autumn.
Danny Cooney raised a total of £5,950 for a number of charities by completing six marathons - in the UK, Ireland and overseas - in a year.
He is now taking a summer break before returning to fundraising action in October when he takes on the Lisbon Marathon, in Portugal.
Proceeds from the run, and from some social fundraising events Danny's got in the pipeline, will go towards Otley Town Mayor Nigel Francis's '14 Plus 1' fundraising challenge.
Councillor Francis (Ind, Danefield) said: "I am really happy to be supporting the Otley running community during my Mayoral year and would like to encourage local people to get more active.
"We will be holding a fun run and charity day at Otley Rugby Club after Danny's Marathon in Portugal this October."
