A NEW 'pop-up' cafe is proving a hit in Pool-in-Wharfedale.
Local caterer Maria McHarrie decided to start The Village Tea Room, currently open from 10am to 4pm at Pool Sports and Social Club each Friday, after spotting a gap in the market.
She said: "'I frequently visit the neighbouring park with my grandchildren and found that there aren't any family-friendly facilities if one of the little ones needs the toilet or a drink.
"After speaking to other local mums who felt the same I thought I would open up the Social Club every Friday and provide home baked goods, sandwiches and refreshments and see if other like-minded people like what we offer.
"We opened two months ago and so far the response has been really positive.
"We have a lot of regular families who visit and have seen some passing trade from people going to and from the airport."
She added that the cafe's opening times could be extended if there is enough demand.
