THE YORKSHIRE Party candidate for Pudsey is calling for more council houses, cheaper homes for first time buyers and retirement homes.

Bob Buxton said: "Current housing proposals are weighted too heavily towards large, expensive houses, often on our cherished greenbelt. The job of the city council should be to consider Leeds’ housing needs and not just to let developers build the most profitable housing.

"There are plenty of suitable brownfield sites in Leeds which would benefit from regeneration; let’s use those sites for cheaper homes for first time buyers, council houses and retirement homes, to allow senior residents to downsize if they wish.

"I would also like to see new housing spread more evenly across Leeds and better infrastructure to support the growing population – more schools, GPs, dentists, parking and improved public transport; local roads are well beyond capacity."

The Yorkshire Party Manifesto pledges to invest more in the county’s infrastructure.
