MEMBERS of Let’s Sing Together, the Ilkley Dementia Group Choir, entertained Ilkley Parish Council chairman, Councillor Steve Bultler, and all those attending a dementia open afternoon at Clarke Foley Centre in Ilkley.

The event was organised by Dementia Friendly Ilkley Action as part of National Dementia Awareness Week. Cllr Butler opened the event and launched the new Ilkley & District Dementia Friendly Directory of Services and Support. He said: “This information is vital for those living with dementia in our community to find the support they need and live as well as they can."

Stalls offering advice and support for those living with dementia, including the Alzheimer’s Society, Carer’s Resource and Ilkley Good Neighbours, were available. Those attending were not only entertained by the choir but encouraged to join in. They also enjoyed readings from the Champions Show the Way Reminiscence Creative Writing Group. The directory and other information for those with dementia can be obtained by emailing: dementiafriendlyilkley@gmail.com, from the Clarke Foley Centre or from the Ilkley office of Community Action Bradford & District, (formally KIVCA), at Christchurch, who were responsible for putting the directory together. Ilkley Parish Council funded the printing of 300 copies.
